East Timor, a case of management
East Timor, a case of management
From Neraca
In the context of the visit of UN Secretary General envoy for East Timor, Jamesheed Marker, I need to clarify that the East Timor problem is not one of integration but of management. The integration of East Timor into Indonesia is finished. This is an undeniable historical fact that does not need to be questioned anymore.
Portugal's objections reflect a colonial attitude. Colonial repression of the East Timor people during four centuries is a political crime carried out by Portugal. That is a human tragedy that should not be forgotten by the East Timorese from generation to generation.
The cowardly action of Portugal -- who abandoned East Timor in the era of upheavals (1973 to 1974) -- is another fact of their irresponsible actions.
In my opinion, there is mismanagement in the development of East Timor, especially from the sociocultural aspect.
There should be a special concept for the development of East Timor. This matter should be studied in cooperation with East Timor figures.
