East Nusa Tenggara Regional Police Uncover 76 Crime Cases from January to May 2026
The East Nusa Tenggara Regional Police have uncovered 76 conventional crime cases during the period of January to May 2026, securing 87 suspects and seizing 245 pieces of evidence from various criminal acts occurring within the region.
NTT Regional Police Chief, Inspector General Rudi Darmoko, stated in Kupang on Thursday that these case resolutions demonstrate the National Police’s commitment to maintaining public security and order, while supporting the National Police’s ‘Presisi’ programme.
“This success represents the police’s commitment to supporting the President of the Republic of Indonesia’s Asta Cita programme and the National Police Chief’s Presisi programme, as well as responding to various criminal acts that disturb the community and public order,” he said during a press conference at the NTT Regional Police Headquarters.
“This success shows that the state is present to provide protection to the community and will not provide any space for criminals who cause public unrest,” he added.
However, he emphasised that eradicating crime requires support from all elements of society through increased vigilance and the reporting of any criminal acts or security disturbances to the police.
“We invite the community to continue strengthening synergy with the National Police to realise a safe, orderly, and conducive security and public order situation in East Nusa Tenggara,” he said.
The Director of General Criminal Investigation of the NTT Regional Police, Commissioner Sigit Haryono, explained that the dozens of resolved cases include murder, assault, mob violence, theft, aggravated theft, motor vehicle theft, robbery, fraud, embezzlement, and the possession of sharp weapons.
He also noted that the NTT Regional Police Chief has instructed all subordinate district police units to increase law enforcement against various forms of conventional crime to create a conducive security situation.
According to NTT Regional Police data, the Kupang District Police recorded the highest number of case resolutions, with 18 police reports and 18 suspects. This was followed by the Sikka District Police, which resolved 11 police reports involving 12 suspects.
The evidence seized in these various cases includes motorcycles, cars, sharp weapons, firearms, gold jewellery, mobile phones, cash, and several other items related to the criminal offences.
