The Civil Service Police Unit (Satpol PP) of East Lombok arrested several underage entertainers. They were apprehended during a raid on several dimly lit cafes selling alcoholic beverages in the Tanjung Luar Beach area, Keruak Subdistrict, East Lombok, West Nusa Tenggara (NTB), on Saturday night (9/5/2026).

East Lombok Satpol PP arrested nine women working as entertainers for questioning. After examination, the women were then collected by their respective families.

The Head of the Regulations and Legislation Division of East Lombok Satpol PP, Herman, explained that some of the entertainers arrested in the raid were still junior high school (SMP) and senior high school (SMA) students.

“All the dimly lit cafes in Tanjung Luar have been entered by us and given warnings. We found children who are still underage working in such places, even some who are still in first year of senior high school, and also those still in junior high school,” explained Herman on Sunday (10/5/2026).

According to Herman, one of the entertainers was even only 14 years old. Most of these children work in the dimly lit cafes due to economic reasons. Nevertheless, some also want to return to continuing their education and stop working in those cafes.

“They admitted to working to earn money. Some said they would stop because they are still in school,” clarified Herman.

East Lombok Satpol PP, Herman explained, will not tolerate the activities of dimly lit cafes that employ underage children. Moreover, such places involve the illegal distribution of alcohol and violate norms and regional regulations (perda).

Herman emphasised that the prohibition on the distribution of alcohol in East Lombok is regulated in Regional Regulation Number 8 of 2002 on the Prohibition of Producing, Distributing, and Selling Alcoholic Beverages. “The regional rules are clear,” he stressed.

“In addition, underage children are strictly prohibited from working in such places. The cafe owners have been warned not to employ schoolchildren anymore,” he added.
