The corruption investigation into the Rp 32 billion Chromebook procurement in East Lombok is not over, despite six defendants already being convicted. The East Lombok District Prosecutor’s Office is now developing the case and has scheduled the examination of former East Lombok Regent Sukiman Azmy and former Regional Secretary M Juaini Taofik.

Head of the East Lombok District Prosecutor’s Office, I Gusti Ayu Agung Fitria Chandrawati, stated that a new investigation warrant has been issued to follow up on the development of the case concerning the procurement of information and communication technology devices in the form of Chromebooks at the East Lombok Education and Culture Office in 2022. Several witnesses have already been examined in this investigative process.

Examinations for Sukiman Azmy and M Juaini Taofik have also been scheduled, although the prosecution has not yet detailed the timing. In previous court rulings, Sukiman Azmy and M Juaini Taofik were mentioned as having received Rp 1.8 billion in illicit funds from the procurement project.

I Gusti Ayu emphasised that the case development is a follow-up to the panel of judges’ order to expand the investigation, including tracing other parties suspected of involvement. The prosecution is currently gathering evidence during the inquiry phase. If sufficient evidence is obtained, the case will be elevated to the investigation stage.

Previously, six individuals were convicted in the case. They are Libert Hutahaean, Director of PT Temprina Media Grafika; Lia Anggawari, Director of PT Dinamika Indo Media; As’Ad, former Secretary of the East Lombok Education and Culture Office; Amrulloh, the commitment-making official; Salmukin, Director of CV Cerdas Mandiri; and M Jaosi alias Ojik, a marketing representative of PT Jepe Press Media Utama. The NTB High Court sentenced them to prison terms ranging from six to eight years, along with fines and orders to pay restitution. The Chromebook procurement project was funded by the 2022 Special Allocation Fund, with state losses calculated by a public accounting firm at Rp 9.2 billion.
