East Kutai Police Seize 11 Packets of Methamphetamine from Two Dealers in Kongbeng and Bengalon
The Narcotics Investigation Unit (Satresnarkoba) of the East Kutai Police (Polres Kutim), East Kalimantan, has apprehended two men suspected of dealing methamphetamine in two different locations, namely Kongbeng District and Bengalon District. During the operation, which took place on Friday (3/7), officers seized a total of 11 ready-to-distribute packets of methamphetamine.
The two suspects taken into custody are N, 29, who was arrested on Gang Manggis, Sepaso Timur Village, Bengalon District, and MY alias Lung, 42, who was apprehended in Miau Baru Village, Kongbeng District. Both are currently being held at the East Kutai Police headquarters for further investigation.
East Kutai Police Chief, Adjunct Senior Commissioner Fauzan Arianto, affirmed his commitment to eradicating the illicit drug trade within his jurisdiction without discrimination. He stated that no space would be given to perpetrators of drug abuse.
“We are committed to continuing to eradicate drug trafficking to its roots. The success of this disclosure is also inseparable from the active role of the community in providing information,” said Fauzan on Saturday (4/7). He added that synergy between the police and the community is the main key to realising a safe East Kutai Regency, free from the dangers of drugs.
Head of the East Kutai Police Narcotics Unit, Inspector Erwin Susanto, explained that the first disclosure was carried out against suspect N at a rented house in Bengalon around 1:00 p.m. Central Indonesian Time. This arrest stemmed from a community report regarding narcotics transaction activity at the location. From N, officers confiscated seven packets of methamphetamine with a gross weight of 1.66 grams. In addition to the drugs, police also seized several supporting pieces of evidence, including a small cloth wallet, a digital scale, a roll of aluminium foil, a glass pipe, a bundle of clear plastic clips, and a mobile phone.
“The evidence was found stored inside a small cloth wallet placed beside the bathroom door. The suspect admitted that all the evidence belonged to him,” Erwin revealed. Almost simultaneously at 1:00 p.m., another Opsnal team moved to Jalan Long Imang, Miau Baru Village, Kongbeng District. There, officers arrested MY alias Lung inside his room. In a search witnessed by local residents, police found two packets of methamphetamine weighing 1.82 grams hidden inside a green plastic bottle and wrapped in tissue on the floor of the room. Officers also seized a Realme brand mobile phone suspected of being used for transactions.
Based on the initial examination, MY admitted to obtaining the methamphetamine supply through a “jejak” system, a transaction method where the seller and buyer do not meet directly but instead the buyer picks up the goods at a predetermined location. “We are currently investigating the suspect’s confession further to uncover the supplier network and other parties involved,” Erwin stressed. For their actions, both suspects are charged under Law Number 35 of 2009 on Narcotics, in accordance with the latest applicable statutory provisions.
