East Kutai Police Monitor Fuel Stations Following Reports of Subsidised Fuel Fraud
The Criminal Investigation Unit of the East Kutai Police, East Kalimantan, has increased supervision of subsidised fuel distribution in the North Sangatta District. The move responds to public reports via Hotline 110 regarding alleged fraud in the distribution of government-subsidised goods to ensure they reach the intended recipients.
East Kutai Police Criminal Investigation Unit Chief, Police First Inspector Rangga Asprilla Fauza, stated that his team immediately followed up on the information by conducting maximum surveillance starting Monday night at 19:00 Central Indonesia Time. The operation, led by Criminal Investigation personnel, targeted several public fuel filling stations, including STC and Pendidikan stations in North Sangatta District.
“Officers monitored the filling activities of subsidised Pertalite fuel, involving the public, operators, and station supervisors. We also provided guidance to station managers to prevent involvement in distribution irregularities,” Rangga said on Wednesday.
During the surveillance, officers urged the public to actively report any violations, such as two-wheeled or four-wheeled vehicles refuelling with subsidised fuel more than once a day, through the National Police Hotline 110. Based on field observations, police found no vehicle tanks modified to hold unreasonable amounts of fuel. Vehicle queues at the stations appeared normal and did not cause traffic congestion.
“Officers found that several stations were still awaiting supplies of subsidised Pertalite and Bio Solar from the Pertamina Depot in Samarinda,” he added. Rangga emphasised that supervision of subsidised fuel distribution will be conducted periodically and routinely as part of the East Kutai Police’s commitment to protecting public rights. He reminded station operators and supervisors not to provide any room for illegal practices.
“The East Kutai Police will not hesitate to take firm action in accordance with the law if any misuse of subsidised fuel is found. Synergy between the police, station managers, and the public is key to ensuring distribution is right on target,” he stressed. As a follow-up, the Criminal Investigation Unit will continue to conduct unannounced inspections and strengthen preventive measures to ensure the distribution of subsidised fuel runs transparently, orderly, and is truly enjoyed by those entitled to it.
