East Kalimantan Students Demonstrate Nationalism Through Provincial Marching Competition
The MPR RI, in partnership with the Indonesian Purna Paskibraka Association (PPI) of East Kalimantan, organised the Provincial Creative Marching and Flag Raising Competition (LKBB-PB) at the SMAN 5 Samarinda grounds on Saturday (7/6). This activity serves as an effort to instil national values, patriotism, and the spirit of unity among the younger generation.
The Acting Secretary General of the MPR RI, Siti Fauziah, stated that such physical activities are essential for character building amidst the rapid advancement of the digital era. “This event is designed to build our patriotic spirit, sense of togetherness, unity, and tolerance. In an era dominated by technology and gadgets, physical activities like this are vital for training discipline, cooperation, and togetherness,” said Siti Fauziah in a written statement.
As the first woman to serve as Secretary General of the MPR RI, she explained that while the LKBB-PB programme was only implemented in seven provinces in 2025, it has now expanded to 30 provinces, with a target to reach all 38 provinces by 2027. She reminded participants that they are not merely representing their schools, but the province of East Kalimantan, should they advance to the national level in Jakarta.
Furthermore, she emphasised the importance of instilling national values in the youth, who will become the nation’s leaders in the next 15 to 20 years. She also highlighted the importance of understanding the Four Pillars of the MPR RI: Pancasila, the 1945 Constitution of the Republic of Indonesia, the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia (NKRI), and Bhinneka Tunggal Ika (Unity in Diversity).
The Governor of East Kalimantan, Rudy Mas’ud, expressed his appreciation to the MPR RI and PPI East Kalimantan for organising this strategic programme. He noted that Constitution Day serves as a crucial momentum to remind citizens that national life is based on the 1945 Constitution. He added that the competition is more than just a display of precision; it is a medium for developing discipline, responsibility, leadership, and mental resilience, particularly as East Kalimantan continues to develop as a buffer zone for the new National Capital (IKN).
The Chairperson of PPI East Kalimantan and the event committee head, Indrawati, explained that the competition aims to provide a platform for youth development, fostering patriotism and an understanding of the importance of the constitution. The provincial competition involved 150 participants from 10 teams representing various schools across East Kalimantan. The winners will represent the province at the national competition in Jakarta, judged by officials from the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI), the National Police (Polri), and the Purna Paskibraka Indonesia.
