TEMPO Interactive, SAMARINDA:The central government’s plan to build a railway from Central to East Kalimantan has been rejected by East Kalimantan Governor Awang Faroek. Awang said he did not know of the US$ 2.5 billion project which would be funded by Russian investors.
“If it passes through conservation areas, I will definitely reject it,” Awang said yesterday, adding that East Kalimantan was cooperating with investors from the United Arab Emirates to build a rail track from Kutai Kartanegara to East Kutai.
