East Kalimantan Provincial Government to Audit Rp25 Billion Governor's Residence Renovation Package

Jakarta (ANTARA) - The East Kalimantan Provincial Government (Pemprov Kaltim) has stated that it will evaluate and conduct an open audit of the Rp25 billion renovation package for the governor’s official residence, which has been the subject of public attention in recent times.

“All items in the renovation package will be re-examined to ensure their use prioritises public interests,” said East Kalimantan Governor Rudy Mas’ud in a written statement in Jakarta on Monday.

According to him, although the renovation planning was in place before he took office, the responsibility still lies with him as the regional head.

He emphasised that as the current governor, the responsibility remains with him. “I must ensure priorities align with the sense of justice felt by the community,” he said.

Rudy also stated that the use of budgets for leadership facilities in the future will be adjusted to be more modest and oriented towards community needs.

In addition to evaluating items that have drawn public attention, the East Kalimantan Provincial Government will also open up public oversight in the budget review process.

He said this policy is in line with the principles of regional spending efficiency and strengthening the accountability of public budget use.

“We emphasise that the regional government’s priorities remain on improving basic community needs and development that directly impacts residents,” he said.
