East Kalimantan High Prosecutor's Office Raids Energy and Mineral Resources Office Over Mining Corruption Allegations
The High Prosecutor’s Office of East Kalimantan conducted a raid on the Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) office of East Kalimantan Province on Monday, 16 March, as part of an investigation into alleged corruption offences in the mining sector.
The raid was carried out by a Special Crime Investigation team to gather evidence needed to clarify the matter. “The raid aims to search for and collect evidence to establish the nature of the alleged criminal offence,” said Toni Yuswanto, Head of the Legal Information Section at the East Kalimantan High Prosecutor’s Office, in Samarinda on Monday evening.
He stated that the measure was part of a lawful law enforcement process conducted in accordance with applicable regulations. The investigation concerns alleged corruption related to mining activities reportedly involving CV AJI.
The raid lasted approximately four hours, beginning at 14:00 WITA. Investigators searched multiple rooms to locate relevant documents and evidence. As a result, several important documents were secured from the office. Additionally, investigators seized electronic evidence allegedly related to the case. “All evidence found will be formally seized for the purpose of further investigation,” said Toni.
