East Kalimantan Governor hands over President's sacrificial cow at Islamic Center
Samarinda (ANTARA) – East Kalimantan Governor Rudy Mas’ud symbolically handed over a sacrificial cow donated by Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto to the local community following Eid al-Adha prayers at the Baitul Muttaqien Grand Mosque in the Islamic Center, Samarinda, on Wednesday. The 1.07-ton cow was handed directly to Irianto Lambrie, Chairman of the Islamic Center Kaltim Management Board. The handover symbolised social concern and strengthened communal spirit and brotherhood among the Benua Etam community. During the event, Governor Rudy Mas’ud urged the community not to view Eid al-Adha merely as a religious celebration, but as an opportunity to strengthen faith and social solidarity. “Let us use this festive occasion as a reminder to strengthen faith, enhance social compassion, maintain brotherhood, and reinforce unity within society,” said Rudy. Meanwhile, Irianto Lambrie, Chairman of the Islamic Center Kaltim Management Board, expressed gratitude for the high level of participation from various stakeholders in this year’s sacrificial event. He stated that Baitul Muttaqien Mosque received a total of 13 cows and three goats. In addition to the presidential donation, the East Kalimantan Provincial Government, through Bank Kaltimtara, also contributed one sacrificial cow. “Following the Eid al-Adha prayers, we immediately began slaughtering the sacrificial animals behind the mosque from 8:00 AM WITA,” said Irianto. For meat distribution, the committee has prepared 1,254 coupons for beneficiaries. The sacrificial meat will be distributed to the donors (mudhohi), residents around the Islamic Center, and the general public in need. “Insha’Allah, the meat distribution will commence at 3:00 PM WITA. We are continually working to ensure that each year’s distribution is more orderly and targeted,” said Irianto.
