East Kalimantan Governor Addresses Rumours on Rp25 Billion Official Residence Renovation
East Kalimantan Governor Rudy Mas’ud has spoken out regarding reports of a Rp25 billion renovation of the official residence. Rudy explained that the budget is not solely for the governor’s residence but also covers the deputy governor’s house and supporting facilities such as pavilions. He stated that the budgeting process was handled by the Regional Government Budget Team (TAPD). “Essentially, the Rp25 billion is not just for the Governor’s house, but also for the Deputy Governor’s and the pavilions there because there is a guest house,” Rudy said at the parliamentary complex in Jakarta on Tuesday (7/4). He mentioned that the governor’s official residence had been unoccupied for more than 10 years, and the renovation process has now been completed. “We repaired the official residence. There were many things missing, from electronics to toilets that needed fixing, lights and so on, including televisions and sofas that were no longer usable; we restored them to accommodate all activities of the East Kalimantan Provincial Government,” he said. Rudy admitted to choosing to live in the official residence because it is more effective and efficient, given its location next to the governor’s office. “I live in the official residence. In East Kalimantan, we stay there because the office is right next door, so we walk,” he stated.
