The Provincial Government of East Kalimantan is finalising the integration of Sustainable Food Agricultural Land (LP2B) across all regencies and cities, as a full regional commitment to supporting national strategic programmes, particularly the construction of three million homes and strengthening food security. East Kalimantan Provincial Secretary Sri Wahyuni revealed in Samarinda on Saturday that the LP2B integration process in the province has now entered the verification stage for Raw Rice Field (LBS) data. This stage is crucial to ensure data accuracy before submission to the central level. “After the verification process is complete, we will immediately propose the results to the Ministry of Agrarian Affairs and Spatial Planning/National Land Agency (ATR/BPN) through the Directorate General of Spatial Planning,” said Sri Wahyuni. The statement was made after Sri Wahyuni attended an online Coordination Meeting and the signing of a Joint Decree on Friday. The important agenda involved two major agreements: the acceleration of housing, through a Joint Decree between the Minister of Home Affairs and the Minister of Housing and Residential Areas regarding support for the three million homes programme; and spatial planning for food, through a Joint Decree between the Minister of Home Affairs and the Minister of ATR/Head of BPN concerning the integration of LP2B into Regional Spatial Plans (RTRW) and Detailed Spatial Plans (RDTR) of regencies and cities. Sri Wahyuni urged regency and city governments in East Kalimantan to move quickly to designate LBS in their respective areas before the official proposal is submitted. The East Kalimantan Provincial Government is targeting LP2B fulfilment to reach 87 per cent of the total existing LBS. Previously, Minister of Home Affairs Muhammad Tito Karnavian stressed that the people’s housing sector and food security are key policy pillars of the President since the beginning of the administration. Therefore, synergy is absolutely necessary to make this programme a success. “Both are national strategic programmes that are the focus of the President’s policy since the start of the administration and must be supported together,” Tito Karnavian asserted at Sasana Bhakti Praja, Ministry of Home Affairs. Tito explained that the Three Million Homes Development Programme is deliberately focused on Low-Income Communities (MBR). The target is to ensure all levels of society have access to decent, safe, and affordable housing. On the other hand, the LP2B protection policy is designed as a defensive bulwark to prevent the conversion of productive paddy fields. This step is taken to maintain the stability of staple food supplies and realise national food self-sufficiency. The Home Affairs Minister also reminded governors to ensure the fulfilment of LP2B area coverage of at least 87 per cent of the total LBS distribution. This target must be achieved through aggregate agreements with regents and mayors. If a region is unable to meet the quota, the shortfall can be covered through subsidies or agreements with other regencies or cities within the same province. “The proposal must be submitted by the Governor to the Minister of ATR/BPN through the Directorate General of Spatial Planning no later than 31 July 2026,” Tito clarified.
