East Kalimantan BNNP Destroys 1,039 Grams of Methamphetamine from Two Syndicates

The East Kalimantan Provincial Narcotics Agency (BNNP Kaltim) has destroyed 1,039.63 grams of methamphetamine seized from two cases in Samarinda and Kutai Kartanegara, as part of efforts to prevent the illicit circulation of narcotics.

‘The destruction of this evidence is a manifestation of law enforcement’s commitment to preventing and eradicating narcotics abuse in this province,’ said East Kalimantan BNNP Chief, Brigadier General Rudy Muyanto, during a press conference in Samarinda on Wednesday.

The first case involved a cross-provincial methamphetamine distribution network from Pontianak, West Kalimantan, to Samarinda. A joint BNNP team arrested two suspects, identified as KY and IH, on Jalan DI Panjaitan, Samarinda, on 24 June 2026, seizing an initial 996 grams of methamphetamine. ‘From the total seizure in the first case, we set aside 1.17 grams for laboratory testing and 1.05 grams for trial evidence,’ Rudy stated.

The second case was uncovered in Muara Badak, Kutai Kartanegara, following a public tip-off about rampant narcotics transactions. Officers arrested a suspect, RJ, at his home on 27 July 2026, confiscating 45.85 grams of methamphetamine. According to Rudy, RJ claimed to have obtained the drugs from an individual named MK, who is now a wanted fugitive.

All evidence was destroyed on Wednesday to ensure it does not return to the community. ‘We continue to strengthen law enforcement synergy to realise a drug-free society in East Kalimantan, in line with the vision of a Golden Indonesia 2045,’ Rudy added.

The suspects are charged under Article 114(2) of Law Number 35 of 2009 on Narcotics, as well as Article 609(2)(a) of Law Number 1 of 2023 on the Criminal Code, in conjunction with Law Number 1 of 2026 on Criminal Penalty Adjustments.
