Samarinda, East Kalimantan (ANTARA) - The East Kalimantan High Prosecutor’s Office (Kejaksaan Tinggi Kalimantan Timur) has seized again state funds amounting to Rp57.45 billion in connection with a suspected criminal act of corruption involving the utilisation of transmigration land in Kutai Kartanegara Regency. “Today we conducted another seizure with the safeguarding of state finances amounting to Rp57.45 billion as a continuation of the prior seizure in March 2026,” said Special Crimes Assistant of Kejati Kaltim Gusti Hamdani in Samarinda on Wednesday. Gusti explained that the seizure is closely related to alleged corruption of country revenue from the utilisation of state-owned goods within the Ministry of Villages, Development of Disadvantaged Regions, and Transmigration. He noted that the allegedly unlawful utilisation of state-owned goods occurred during mining activities by PT JMB Group. The case specifically focuses on mining activities that did not conform at all with the terms of the management rights to transmigration land. To ensure transparency, Gusti stated that the additional cash of Rp57,450,000,000 was handed over directly by a suspect with the initials BPT. Previously, that suspect had also handed over seizure money amounting to Rp214,283,871,000 to investigators. The latest seizure brings the total cash secured from that one suspect to exactly Rp271 billion. “All cash assets seized by the prosecutors will be fully used to recover state losses,” Hamdani said. In addition to cash, investigators have taken legal steps to seize other tangible assets. Other assets seized include several houses, land parcels, and valuable items such as four-wheeled vehicles. “The investigation against seven suspects in the transmigration land case is ongoing intensively to complete all case files,” Hamdani said. The prosecutors aim to finalise the case files so that all suspects can be brought to the prosecution stage in court as soon as possible.
