East Java-West Kalimantan Trade Mission Records Rp2.3 Trillion in Transactions
A trade and investment mission between East Java and West Kalimantan has recorded transaction commitments worth Rp2.3 trillion, covering commodity trade and investment by businesses from both provinces.
“What has been recorded up to this hour is Rp2.3 trillion in transaction commitments. Of this Rp2.3 trillion, Rp885 billion has been recorded for the trade and investment mission,” said East Java Governor Khofifah Indar Parawansa during the East Java-West Kalimantan trade and investment mission in Pontianak on Tuesday.
She said the commitment is one of the largest achievements in trade cooperation between the two provinces, which has been ongoing for around seven years.
The trade commitments between businesses from both provinces cover various commodities, with the largest value coming from the livestock sector.
She explained that PT Phalosari Unggul Jaya from Jombang has committed to supplying livestock products to PT Sujaya Food Pontianak worth Rp1.001 trillion per year.
The cooperation covers 1,283 tonnes of processed poultry meat, 1,545 tonnes of processed beef, 927 tonnes of milk, 5,114 tonnes of eggs, 9,649 tonnes of poultry meat, 976,948 day-old chicks, and 29,440 goats and sheep.
In addition to livestock, trade transactions also include cigarettes worth Rp95.12 billion per year, coffee worth Rp63.8 billion, fish and shrimp feed worth Rp63.72 billion, and coconut shell charcoal and shisha briquettes worth Rp58.21 billion per year.
Other commodities include raw and processed salt worth Rp27.99 billion, granulated sugar worth Rp26.25 billion, duck egg products worth Rp25.03 billion, rice worth Rp23.25 billion, and roundwood worth Rp22.84 billion per year.
Meanwhile, on the investment side, East Java businesses have prepared Rp500 billion in investment for the development of a primary macro-nutrient fertiliser industry in Mempawah Regency through Saraswanti Anugerah Indonesia.
Saraswanti Agro Estate has also prepared Rp300 billion in investment for oil palm plantation development in Landak Regency, while PT Anugerah Dolomit Indonesia has allocated Rp85 billion for an ameliorant fertiliser industry in Mempawah Regency.
Khofifah said the scale of the commitments demonstrates the economic potential of West Kalimantan that can be developed through trade relations, investment, and strengthening inter-regional supply chains.
She expressed hope that the signed commitments will not stop as agreements on paper, but will be followed up immediately into real transactions and long-term cooperation that benefits the people of both provinces.
Meanwhile, West Kalimantan Governor Ria Norsan said cooperation with East Java should be directed not only at meeting commodity needs, but also at encouraging the transfer of technology and knowledge so that West Kalimantan can increase production independently.
According to Norsan, a number of West Kalimantan commodities with potential for development under the cooperation include palm kernel shells, crude palm oil, coconut, and locally produced salt, which is still in the development stage.
Norsan expressed hope that the trade mission will become a momentum to strengthen investment and trade relations between the two provinces while expanding business opportunities for local businesses in West Kalimantan.
