East Java Tops SNBP Admissions, Khofifah: Education is the Only Way to Break the Poverty Chain
East Java Governor Khofifah Indar Parawansa has emphasised that human resource development must be a top priority in realising the Golden Indonesia 2045 vision. According to her, education is the key to breaking the poverty chain as well as the greatest investment for the nation’s future.
The statement was made by Khofifah whilst providing a briefing to 163 participants of the Basic Training for Civil Service Candidates at the Centre for Learning and Strategic Policy on Government Management, National Institute of Public Administration, in Makassar on Friday.
‘Civil servants are not merely policy implementers, but agents of change who determine Indonesia’s future. A leader is not measured by the number of programmes, but by the magnitude of benefits felt by the community,’ Khofifah said.
She stressed that education must be a primary concern for policymakers because of its strategic role in improving public welfare. ‘Everywhere, the formula for breaking the poverty chain is through education, so education must be strengthened by policymakers as the greatest investment for a nation in welcoming Golden Indonesia 2045,’ she stated.
Khofifah highlighted that East Java has recorded the highest number of student admissions through the National Selection Based on Achievement for seven consecutive years from 2020 to 2026. In 2026, the East Java Provincial Government also prepared scholarships for 81,131 prospective students at private senior high schools and vocational schools, as well as 62,000 prospective new students at private universities. ‘We want every child in East Java to have the same opportunity to obtain a quality education,’ she said.
