East Java Student Crowned National High School Ambassador 2026

Surabaya (ANTARA) - A student from SMAN 1 Bojonegoro, Fachri Akbar Triyanto, has been selected as the 2026 National High School Ambassador (Duta SMA Nasional) alongside Ratu Mesia from SMAN 1 Yogyakarta, after passing a selection process held by the Directorate of Senior High Schools under the Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education in Sleman. The Head of the East Java Education Office, Aries Agung Paewai, expressed his pride in the achievement, noting that Fachri’s success in the prestigious competition was driven by extraordinary spirit and motivation. He also expressed hope that Fachri would continue to the final stage of the National Science Olympiad and deliver further accolades. Fachri was inaugurated as the 2026 National High School Ambassador on 10–14 August 2026 in Sleman Regency, Special Region of Yogyakarta. The Duta SMA programme serves as a platform for developing leadership, communication, character, and the role of change agents among high school students. Paewai emphasised that student development is not solely oriented towards academic achievement but also non-academic pursuits, as every accomplishment becomes valuable experience and capital for students to develop their potential, determine educational paths, and prepare for future careers. Fachri achieved this honour while simultaneously competing in the national semi-finals of the Earth Sciences category of the National Science Olympiad. In the Duta SMA selection, he proposed a programme called ‘SEDULUR HEBAT: Terbiasa Bersama Teman Sebaya’, which positions peers as drivers of positive habits in schools through mutual support, reminders, and motivation. Paewai expressed hope that Fachri’s achievements on the national stage would motivate other students to develop and improve their quality in any field. Fachri’s track record includes an Honorable Mention at the 2025 National Geography Science Olympiad, being a finalist in the National Science Olympiad for Geography, and a finalist in the Geography and Geoscience Olympiad at the Bandung Institute of Technology. He has also led the East Java Student Ambassador Community and coordinated an educational integrity programme reaching over 7,000 participants. Fachri’s success continues East Java’s tradition in the National High School Ambassador event and strengthens the region’s position as a centre for developing high-achieving and character-driven students.
