East Java SPMB PIN Collection Stage Officially Begins Today

The 2026 New Student Admission System (SPMB) for Senior High Schools (SMA) and Vocational High Schools (SMK) in East Java has officially commenced. The first critical stage, PIN collection, is scheduled from Thursday, May 28 to Tuesday, June 9. East Java Education Department Head Aries Agung Paewai stressed that PIN collection is a mandatory step for prospective students before registering through available admission routes. ‘This first stage involves PIN collection, which began today (Thursday). PIN acquisition is a crucial step before prospective students proceed with the SPMB registration process for SMA and SMK in East Java,’ Aries stated in Surabaya on Thursday, May 28. New students must first complete the process online via the official website spmb.jatimprov.go.id. The required steps and documents are as follows: Aries reminded applicants to bring original required documents during school verification. After validation, they must sign an official report and can download their PIN one day post-verification. There are significant changes to the registration route sequence this year. Unlike previous years, the SMA and SMK Domicile Route is now the first stage, opening on June 11-12, 2026. Meanwhile, the Affirmation Route, previously the initial stage, has been moved to the second stage, scheduled for June 17-18, 2026. The East Java Education Department also clarified public misconceptions about the SMA Domicile Route. ‘Some still believe it is solely based on proximity of residence, but academic performance takes precedence, followed by domicile,’ Aries stressed.
