The implementation of the second phase of the 2026 East Java New Student Admission System (SPMB), which includes the affirmation, competition achievement, and transfer pathways, has been completed. Despite failing in this phase, prospective students still have opportunities in stages three and four.

“The affirmation, competition achievement, and transfer phases have been completed, leaving only the third and fourth pathways which we will open soon,” said Head of the East Java Education Office (Dindik) Aries Agung Paewai in Surabaya on Friday (19/6).

After this phase concludes, the East Java Provincial Education Office will open SPMB registration for stage 3 through the achievement of academic scores pathway for senior high school (SMA) level on Wednesday (24/6) and Thursday (25/6).

According to him, prospective students who were not successful in the previous stages still have a chance to be accepted at state schools through stage 3, the achievement pathway, and stage 4, the academic achievement pathway.

“This means there are still opportunities for prospective students in those pathways who failed in stages one and two. The academic achievement pathway in stage 3 will be the next opportunity for students to compete based on their academic accomplishments, calculated from a combination of report card grades and the Academic Ability Test (TKA),” he said.

Previously, in stage 1 through the domicile pathway, a total of 54,056 prospective students were declared successful out of 213,066 applicants. In detail, 40,786 prospective students were accepted at state senior high schools (SMA Negeri) and 13,270 prospective students were accepted at state vocational high schools (SMK Negeri).

Of that number, 31,443 SMA prospective students and 10,506 SMK prospective students were successfully accepted at their first-choice schools.

Aries explained that this year’s domicile pathway selection did not only consider the distance from residence to school. The selection also prioritised the final score, which is a combination of report card grades and the TKA, followed by consideration of domicile distance.

Meanwhile, stage 2 of the 2026 East Java SPMB, which covers the affirmation, competition achievement, and transfer pathways, is still in the process of finalising the total number of accepted students.

The East Java Education Office urges prospective students and parents to continue monitoring the schedule and registration requirements for stage 3 so as not to miss the opportunity to continue their education at their desired state schools.

As is known, after SPMB Stage 3 is completed later, state school registration in East Java will proceed to Stage 4, the final stage, through the SMK Academic Achievement Score Pathway, which opens on 30 June and 1 July 2026.
