As many as 29,046 students from East Java have been declared successful in entering State Universities (PTN) through the National Selection Based on Achievement (SNBP) pathway for 2026. This achievement breaks the record while maintaining East Java’s position in first place nationally for seven consecutive years since 2019.

Based on official data released via the snpmb.id website on Tuesday (31/3), East Java recorded the highest acceptance figure with 29,046 students accepted out of a total of 108,122 SNBP 2026 registrants. This position is followed by West Java in second place (18,365 students), Central Java (16,326 students), North Sumatra (13,136 students), and Aceh (8,589 students).

East Java Governor Khofifah Indar Parawansa stated that this achievement is a strong indicator of the increasing quality of Human Resources (HR) in the region. The acceptance rate for East Java students in SNBP 2026 reached 27.20 percent of total registrants.

“Alhamdulillah, East Java has been the highest in SNBP passes for seven consecutive years. This is very proud news. This achievement shows that our efforts to improve education quality are on the right track,” said Khofifah in Surabaya on Wednesday (1/4/2026).

Khofifah assessed that this success is inseparable from the mapping strategies carried out by schools. The mapping includes analysis of opportunities, programme study competitiveness levels, to an effective student ranking system that increases acceptance chances.

In addition to excelling overall, East Java also recorded the highest number of students passing through the Indonesia Smart Card for College (KIP-K) pathway. From 40,213 KIP-K holders registering in East Java, 8,915 students were declared accepted into their dream PTNs.

This figure surpasses other provinces such as North Sumatra (6,275 students), West Java (5,572 students), Aceh (5,139 students), and Central Java (4,778 students). Khofifah emphasised that the KIP-K programme is crucial for reducing disparities in access to higher education for underprivileged families.

“We want to ensure that no child in East Java drops out of school due to economic reasons. Through KIP-K, students from less fortunate families can still achieve their dreams and improve their family’s welfare in the future,” she asserted.

To the students who have been declared successful, the Governor advised them to become a generation that is not only academically intelligent but also possesses strong character. Meanwhile, for students who have not succeeded in the SNBP pathway, she asked them not to be discouraged.

“There is still the National Selection Based on Test (SNBT) pathway and independent pathways. Keep fighting, because you are the future that will inherit the nation’s leadership relay,” Khofifah concluded.
