East Java Regional Police send humanitarian aid to residents affected by NTT earthquake
Surabaya (ANTARA) - The East Java Regional Police have sent humanitarian aid to help residents affected by the earthquake disaster in East Nusa Tenggara (NTT), with the departure officiated directly by Regional Police Chief Inspector General Nanang Avianto in Surabaya on Monday.
“We hope this assistance can help ease the burden of our brothers and sisters affected by the disaster in East Nusa Tenggara,” said East Java Police Head of Public Relations, Senior Commissioner Jules Abraham Abast.
Abast said the aid sent consists of various necessities for affected communities, including approximately 11.62 tonnes of food supplies, 23,429 litres of bottled drinking water, and 853 score of various refugee necessities.
The support sent by the East Java Police is not only in the form of logistical assistance, but also includes operational support and psychological handling for affected communities.
Personnel from the Mobile Brigade Unit (Satbrimob) and the Water and Air Police Directorate (Ditpolairud) of the East Java Police have been prepared to support humanitarian activities at the affected locations.
“In addition to the Psychology Team from the Human Resources Bureau, we are also sending personnel from the East Java Police Mobile Brigade and the Water and Air Police Directorate to support humanitarian activities at the affected locations,” said Abast.
To support the delivery and operational aspects of the aid, the East Java Police deployed around 14 operational and transport vehicles.
In addition, the East Java Police also sent two field kitchen vehicles and two water treatment vehicles.
According to Abast, the assistance is part of a phased delivery as a form of care and solidarity from the East Java Police to the people of NTT affected by the disaster.
“In stages, we will continue to evaluate and adjust the assistance according to the needs of the communities in East Nusa Tenggara,” he said.
The East Java Police Head of Public Relations also expressed appreciation to all parties who participated in the collection, preparation and distribution of the humanitarian aid.
“The most important thing is that this assistance can arrive promptly, be well targeted, and truly provide benefits for the communities in need in East Nusa Tenggara,” he said.
