East Java Provincial Government sends another 64.4 tonnes of aid for NTT earthquake victims
The East Java Provincial Government has again sent 64.4 tonnes of humanitarian aid for communities affected by the earthquake in Nusa Tenggara Timur through Tanjung Perak Port on Thursday evening (20/8).
The aid, transported aboard the Dharma Rucitra VII vessel bound for Labuan Bajo, consists of medicines, food supplies, toiletries, and hygiene necessities.
“God willing, around 64.4 tonnes have been collected today. The target is to reach 100 tonnes that we can support. Brotherhood and mutual cooperation must be built as much as possible,” said East Java Governor Khofifah Indar Parawansa after inspecting the aid at Tanjung Perak Port.
The aid is a form of inter-regional fraternal spirit. The East Java Provincial Government, together with the public, will continue to add humanitarian support according to needs on the ground.
On 17 August 2026, the East Java Provincial Government sent 8.4 tonnes of aid to Ende along with medical and paramedical personnel.
This latest shipment strengthens health support. The medicines have been tailored to the medical needs identified by the East Java medical team on site. Additional medical teams will be dispatched on 22 August 2026.
Khofifah added that the East Java medical team has joined the emergency hospital coordinated by the Ministry of Health.
Beyond logistics and health, the East Java Provincial Government is mapping the needs for command posts, public kitchens, and volunteers.
The East Java Provincial Government is also preparing trauma healing and trauma counselling through the East Java Social Service.
“Our Social Service is prepared for trauma healing, which indeed should receive reinforcement when a natural disaster occurs (landslide, flood, or earthquake),” she said.
Khofifah stressed that East Java’s support is a manifestation of solidarity among fellow Indonesians.
“May those who suffered misfortune, those who died, all find a noble place beside God Almighty. May those currently being treated in hospital recover soon, and may the others remain spirited in continuing their lives with their families,” she said.
