East Java Provincial Government Holds Market Operations in Lamongan; Here is the List of Cheaper Essential Goods
East Java’s Provincial Government (Pemprov Jatim) continues to undertake proactive steps to stabilise staple food prices ahead of Eid al-Fitr 1447 H. Most recently, Governor Khofifah Indar Parawansa personally inspected the implementation of the Market Operations (Operasi Pasar Murah, OPM) staged in front of the Sukodadi Subdistrict Office, Lamongan Regency, on Wednesday, 4 March. Accompanied by Lamongan Regent Yuhronur Efendi, Khofifah emphasised that ensuring adequate logistics and affordable prices for the public is the main priority for the regional government amid price fluctuations ahead of the festival. She explained that the Sukodadi event marks the 32nd point in a series of cheap markets initiated by the East Java Provincial Disperindag. The programme is designed as a complement to the efforts already undertaken by district/city administrations. “This is the 32nd cheap market organised by the East Java Disperindag. Our hope is to maximise price stabilisation at various points,” Khofifah said during the inspection. She added that price dynamics often adjust ahead of the holiday. Therefore, inflation control is pursued by ensuring stock is available and prices are affordable. Lamongan residents were seen queuing to buy commodities sold at prices below the market average. Here are the details of the main commodities’ prices in the OPM: Khofifah stressed that price intervention is necessary given a tendency for food prices to rise approaching the holiday. “Of course, the aim is that this can help meet the logistic needs of households,” she concluded. Lamongan Regent Yuhronur Efendi praised the synergy and committed to continuing to monitor food distribution in the area to keep it safe until Eid al-Fitr arrives. The Serang City Government, through DinkopUKMperindag, held cheap markets in six subdistricts to maintain price stability and curb inflation ahead of Ramadan 1447 Hijriah. Residents queued to buy essential goods at a cheap market operation in Pontianak Timur, Pontianak, West Kalimantan. Residents queued to shop for essentials during a cheap market operation in Samatiga, Aceh Barat, Aceh. Batam City Government again held cheap market operations to help residents obtain essential goods at more affordable prices.
