Sidoarjo, East Java — The East Java Provincial Government has distributed social assistance worth more than Rp3 billion to the people of Sidoarjo Regency on Wednesday.

East Java Governor Khofifah Indar Parawansa said the disbursement in Sidoarjo Regency was the second this year, following the provincial government's earlier distribution of Rp7.73 billion in social assistance to Pasuruan Regency.

"The acceleration of social assistance distribution is important so that the people of East Java have better economic readiness ahead of Ramadan and Eid al-Fitr 1447 Hijriah," Khofifah said.

The social assistance distribution represents the government's presence in strengthening the socio-economic conditions of vulnerable communities, including the elderly, persons with disabilities, and female heads of household, through the Inclusive and Productive Entrepreneurship Programme for a Prosperous East Java (KIP Jawara).

Khofifah noted that the social assistance is not merely consumptive in nature but can also enhance economic self-sufficiency, expressing hope that all social assistance for East Java's 38 regencies and cities can be completed as soon as possible.

"We hope that before 1 March 2026, all social assistance will have been fully distributed," Khofifah said.

According to data compiled from the East Java Provincial Social Affairs Office, the agency distributed Rp1,858,950,000 through various programmes, including the Family Hope Programme Plus (PKH Plus) for 533 families, with each PKH recipient receiving Rp2 million per year.

Additionally, Social Assistance for Persons with Disabilities (ASPD) was provided to 66 individuals, each receiving Rp3.6 million per year.

There is also the KIP Putri Jawara programme for 100 persons and the KIP PPKS Jawara programme for nine persons, with each beneficiary receiving Rp3 million per year.

Further assistance was provided through the Social Welfare Institution for the Elderly (LKS LU) programme for 10 individuals, totalling Rp45.7 million.

Social appreciation grants were also distributed to social pillars including the Disaster Response Youth Corps (Tagana), Sub-district Social Welfare Workers (TKSK), disability companions, and PKH Plus human resources, reaching a total of 77 individuals.

In addition to assistance from the East Java Social Affairs Office, the East Java Provincial Community and Village Empowerment Agency also distributed BUMDes (Village-Owned Enterprise) grants of Rp100 million each to five villages in Sidoarjo Regency.

There was also the BERDAYA Village programme for two villages with grants of Rp100 million each, as well as JATIM PUSPA for three villages with total assistance reaching Rp332,400,000.

East Java's regional-owned enterprises (BUMD) also collectively distributed productive zakat worth Rp25 million to 25 recipients in Sidoarjo Regency.
