Governor of East Java Khofifah Indar Parawansa distributed free grocery packages and fuel (BBM) to around 200 online motorcycle taxi (ojol) drivers in Sidoarjo Regency on Wednesday afternoon (8/4). The event took place at the Sedati Agung petrol station in Sidoarjo.

The ojol drivers received aid packages consisting of 3 kilograms of rice, 1 litre of cooking oil, and 1 kilogram of sugar. In addition, two cans of sardines and five packets of instant noodles. The fuel provided was 3 litres of Pertamax.

On this occasion, Khofifah emphasised that stocks of fuel and LPG in East Java are in a safe condition. Therefore, she urged the public not to make excessive purchases and to use energy wisely.

“Our stocks of fuel and LPG are sufficient. For that reason, I invite the public to use them wisely, no need to panic,” said Khofifah, accompanied by Sidoarjo Regent Subandi, on Wednesday (8/4).

According to Khofifah, the government has also set purchase limits to maintain supply stability. For private vehicles, fuel purchases are limited to a maximum of 50 litres per day. Meanwhile, for 3-kilogram LPG, UMKM actors are limited to 15 cylinders per month.

This former Minister of Social Affairs added that the aid distribution activity also serves as an effort to strengthen solidarity with the ojol drivers. They have long been an important part of public transportation services.

“We want to share while ensuring that our ojol friends can get help with their operations, and there is also additional groceries for their families,” said Khofifah.

Khoiriyah, 51, one of the ojol drivers from Gedangan, expressed gratitude for the aid provided. She said the free fuel is very helpful in supporting her activities as an ojol driver.

“Alhamdulillah, it is very helpful, especially for daily operations. Plus groceries for the family,” said Khoiriyah.
