East Java Provincial Government and Bank Jatim Distribute Rp3.2 Billion in Aid to NTT
The East Java Provincial Government, together with Bank Jatim, has distributed social assistance to communities affected by natural disasters in East Nusa Tenggara (NTT). The aid is expected to help ease the burden on residents impacted by the disaster.
The assistance was distributed on Sunday (23/8) at several disaster post locations as a demonstration of East Java’s care and solidarity with the people of NTT who are facing post-disaster conditions. Present at the handover were East Java Governor Khofifah Indar Parawansa, East Java Regional Secretary Adhy Karyono, and Bank Jatim President Director Winardi Legowo.
In this social initiative, Bank Jatim provided two forms of assistance. The first was a donation from Jatimers amounting to Rp250 million, directed to Bank NTT employees who were also affected by the disaster. Bank NTT is a member of Bank Jatim’s Bank Business Group (KUB).
Bank Jatim therefore considered it important to provide attention and support to Bank NTT and its employees as part of its commitment to building synergy and solidarity among KUB members. Winardi said that this concern is a tangible expression of the spirit of togetherness within the Bank Jatim KUB.
“Bank NTT is part of the larger Bank Jatim KUB family. When our colleagues at Bank NTT were affected by the disaster, we felt the need to be present and provide support. This Rp250 million donation from Jatimers is expected to help ease the burden on affected Bank NTT employees, while also serving as a form of solidarity and care from the Bank Jatim family,” Winardi said in a written statement on Tuesday (25/8/2026).
The second form of assistance from Bank Jatim, delivered through the East Java Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) to the people of NTT, consisted of rice, corned beef, sardines, milk, sanitary pads, and nappies. All of this aid was distributed through several disaster posts and is expected to help meet the needs of the community, particularly groups requiring greater attention in the post-disaster situation. Distribution was carried out at several locations so that it could be received directly by affected residents.
“In addition to providing support to our colleagues at Bank NTT, Bank Jatim also wants to ensure that our concern can be felt directly by the community there. This social initiative is part of Bank Jatim’s commitment to remain present in the community, not only through its role as a financial services institution but also through social care and the spirit of mutual cooperation when disasters occur,” he said.
Through this synergy with the East Java Provincial Government, Bank Jatim hopes that the assistance provided can ease the burden on the people of NTT and provide moral support to affected Bank NTT employees. Bank Jatim also expressed prayers and support for all the people of NTT, wishing them strength in facing the disaster and a smooth post-disaster recovery process.
Meanwhile, Khofifah Indar Parawansa said that the aid brought to the affected areas was compiled based on community needs and input from health workers who had earlier provided services to earthquake victims.
The total aid brought by the East Java Provincial Government reached 65.7 tonnes, valued at Rp3,006,652,875. The assistance consisted of food and rice, medicines, bathing and hygiene supplies, baby and child supplies, women’s necessities, tents, tarpaulins, and stoves. Of the total aid, 12.8 tonnes worth Rp720,965,175 were distributed to residents around SD Inpres Robo. Meanwhile, aid for the post in East Manggarai reached 52.9 tonnes, valued at Rp2,285,687,700.
According to her, this logistical support is part of East Java’s efforts to help communities get through the emergency response period and into the early stages of recovery. The assistance is expected to ease residents’ needs amid conditions still affected by the disaster.
“East Java’s support is provided to accelerate the recovery of affected communities. We want our brothers and sisters in NTT to feel that they are not alone. Many people from various regions in Indonesia are mobilising mutual cooperation to help them,” she concluded.
