Surabaya (ANTARA) - East Java Police Chief Irjen Pol. Nanang Avianto has ensured that the implementation of the 2026 Lebaran homecoming or Idul Fitri 1447 Hijriah in the local area ran safely and smoothly thanks to cross-sectoral synergy in securing Operasi Ketupat Semeru. “So far, Alhamdulillah, everything has gone smoothly because this activity was truly integrated together, so the public feels comfortable in carrying out their homecoming,” said Nanang Avianto in Surabaya on Friday night. He explained that security was carried out from the beginning of Ramadan until the homecoming and return flows, including the mobility of people from various regions such as DKI Jakarta and Central Java entering East Java and vice versa. “There was an increase in mobility with vehicles entering East Java rising by around 15% compared to the previous year, as well as passenger movements increasing by around 20%,” he said. In addition, security was focused on the implementation of Idul Fitri prayers, social gathering activities, to tourist sites that could be crowded with people, including monitoring residents’ homes left empty during the homecoming. “We hope that the entire series of security measures, including the return flow, can run smoothly with public support through a mutual guardianship and reminding attitude for collective security,” he stated. Operasi Ketupat is a humanitarian operation held annually by the Indonesian National Police (Polri) to secure Idul Fitri celebrations involving the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI) and related stakeholders.
