Surabaya, British English — The conflict between Iran and the United States–Israel that is intensifying has drawn global attention. It is accompanied by escalating tensions between nations, particularly in the Middle East.

In response to the phenomenon, KH Abdul Wahab Yahya, Vice-Chairman for Religious Affairs and Trust in God Almighty of the East Java DPD PDI Perjuangan, expressed regret over the ongoing conflict. ‘As per the instruction from Bu Mega, she regrets the conflict between Iran and the United States and Israel,’ said Gus Wahab, as he is fondly known.

According to him, Iran’s dignity has been degraded and the United States has violated the UN Charter. ‘Because, whether we like it or not, Iran’s dignity has been insulted by Israel and the United States, which bombed without knowing anything. That is a violation of the UN Charter,’ he said.

Therefore, to seek blessings and pray for peace for those countries involved in the conflict, the East Java DPD PDI Perjuangan held a Nuzulul Quran. The event invited hundreds of orphans and widows to the East Java PDIP office in Surabaya on Thursday (5 March 2026).

Chairman of East Java DPD, Said Abdullah, said that the main aim of the activity was to seek blessings in the holy month of Ramadan. ‘Why did PDIP Perjuangan invite orphans? It was explained that there were 500 orphans; it is not because we give blessings, not because PDIP Perjuangan gives blessings, but because we all want to receive blessings from our orphans,’ he said during his remarks.

Because he believed that every prayer from the orphans has the power to be granted by God Almighty. ‘Therefore, let us pray together so that PDIP Perjuangan Jatim can carry out this annual Nuzulul Quran, at least inshallah on every possible occasion we will always place women and orphans in an honoured place for PDIP,’ he added.

He described the activity as in line with PDIP Perjuangan’s ideology as a ‘wong cilik’ (the little people) party that always provides a place, space, and opportunity for the people. ‘And hopefully this will not be the last Ramadan for us; inshallah we will meet at the next Ramadan and pray for long life.’
