East Java PDIP Perjuangan Invites 500 Orphans and 50 Widows to Nuzulul Quran 1447 AH
Surabaya, Kompas.com – The East Java DPD PDIP Perjuangan held Nuzulul Quran 1447 AH/2026 CE at the DPD PDI Perjuangan Jatim office in Surabaya on Thursday, 5 March 2026. The event also included the distribution of alms to 550 beneficiaries, comprising 500 orphans and 50 widows. Observers noted that the programme began at around 16:00 WIB with a Quran recitation.
The proceedings continued with the recitation of prayers for the Prophet by hundreds of orphans and dozens of widows, conducted devoutly. While waiting for the buka puasa period, attendees were treated to a tausiyah by KH Fahmi Amrullah, the custodian of Pondok Pesantren Tebuireng.
In addition to the religious lectures, the East Java PDIP Perjuangan will again distribute alms to 500 orphans and 50 destitute widows from various areas across East Java.
Chairman of the East Java DPD PDIP Perjuangan, Said Abdullah, said the main aim of the activity is to gain blessings in the holy month of Ramadan. “Why did PDIP Perjuangan invite the orphans? It is not because we bestow blessings; it is because we all seek blessings from our orphans,” he stated. He added that he believes every prayer from the orphans has the power to be granted by God.
“Therefore let us pray together so that PDIP East Java can hold this annually during Nuzulul Quran and, God willing, in any opportunity we will always place mothers and orphans in the party’s place of honour,” he said.
He noted the activity aligns with PDIP Perjuangan’s ideology as a party of the ‘wong cilik’ – the common people – by consistently providing space, opportunity and recognition for the marginalised.
“And hopefully this Ramadan will not be our last; God willing, we will meet next Ramadan; we will wish each other long life,” he added.
Sekretaris DPD PDI Perjuangan Jatim, Deni Wicaksono, said the Nuzulul Quran commemoration has become a regular Ramadan agenda that is not merely ceremonial but also emphasises spiritual values and social concern. “We carry out this activity every Ramadan. The Nuzulul Quran moment should bring happiness to all, especially for orphans and widows who require attention,” he said. He hopes KH Fahmi Amrullah’s presence as speaker will strengthen the understanding that Islamic values align with patriotic spirit and social justice.
“Through his tausiyah, we hope cadres and the public will reaffirm a commitment to a civilised politics that favours the wong cilik and regards the Quran as a guide for national life,” he added.
As the Maghrib prayer call sounded, hundreds of attendees began to line up for the breaking of the fast. Smiles were evident as people queued for the buka puasa menu.
The programme concluded with a doa led by KH Abdul Wahab Yahya, Deputy Head of the DPD PDI Perjuangan Jatim’s Religious Affairs division, followed by Tarawih prayers.
