East Java PCNU Syuriyah Rois Forum Proposes 35th Muktamar in Lirboyo

Kediri - The Forum of Syuriyah Rois from the Branch Managements of Nahdlatul Ulama (PCNU) across East Java has proposed and recommended to the Central Board of Nahdlatul Ulama (PBNU) regarding the implementation of the 35th Nahdlatul Ulama Congress to be held at Pondok Pesantren Lirboyo in Kediri City.

“The Forum proposes that the 35th NU Congress be held at Pondok Pesantren Lirboyo, which has a long history in scholarly service, cleric cadre development, and dedication to NU,” said the spokesperson for Pondok Pesantren Lirboyo in Kediri, KH Abdul Muid Shohib, in his statement in Kediri on Friday.

He stated that the Forum of Syuriyah Rois PCNU across East Java held an event at the An-Nawawy Hall, Pondok Pesantren Lirboyo, on Thursday (7/5). The event produced several important recommendations to PBNU ahead of the National Deliberation (Munas), Grand Conference (Konbes), and 35th Nahdlatul Ulama Congress.

In addition to the location for the 35th NU Congress, the forum also requested that PBNU immediately implement the National Deliberation (Munas), Grand Conference (Konbes), and 35th Nahdlatul Ulama Congress in a proper, clean, transparent manner, upholding ethics and propriety.

Furthermore, the forum requested that PBNU promptly hold a plenary meeting before the Munas and Konbes.

“The Forum also requests that in making important and strategic decisions and policies leading to the Congress, PBNU involves the elders from the Advisory Council of PBNU as a form of respect for the wisdom of senior clerics and to maintain wisdom in every decision-making process,” he said.

Gus Muid, as he is affectionately known, added that the forum also emphasised that NU is a great pesantren and that a pesantren is a small NU.
