The activity represents a commitment to providing the best service to the community, particularly homebound travellers undertaking the journey to return to their home villages during major religious occasions, said H. Suhadi, Secretary of PW DMI East Java, in Probolinggo.

According to him, the programme aims to establish mosques not merely as a means of interaction between people and their Creator, but also as a centre of community service that is comfortable, secure, and welcoming for homebound travellers who require rest facilities during their journey.

He noted that the presence of mosques distributed throughout East Java represents a significant potential in supporting smooth homebound travel flows.

“Through the Mosque Friendly to Homebound Travellers programme, we invite all mosque administrators to open their doors, provide the best facilities, and create a comfortable atmosphere for travellers,” he said.

Furthermore, the Indonesian Mosque Council Foundation also called on mosque administrators to enhance cleanliness and security standards, and to strengthen coordination with relevant parties such as security personnel, healthcare workers, and local volunteers.

He expressed hope that the “Mosque Friendly to Homebound Travellers and Return Traffic” programme would become a movement involving all elements of society in providing the best service to homebound travellers, whilst strengthening the role of mosques as centres of civilisation and community service.

“With a spirit of unity and care, we are confident that this programme will provide significant benefits to the community and offer a more comfortable, secure, and blessed homebound travel experience,” he said.

Meanwhile, BAZNAS East Java, together with BAZNAS Jember Regency and Jember Regency Government, held a welfare distribution event for 1,000 orphans and 250 persons with disabilities, combined with a breaking of fast ceremony at the Wahyawibawagraha Hall in Jember Regency on Monday, 16 March.
