East Java High Prosecutor's Office Receives AMI Demands for Ex-Jampidsus Detention

“The demands conveyed by the protesters will later be forwarded to our superiors. We have appealed for them to be expressed in an orderly and peaceful manner,” said the Head of the Legal Information Section at the East Java High Prosecutor’s Office, Adnan Sulistiyono, when contacted in Surabaya on Thursday.

He said that protest actions were part of the public’s right to express opinions, which must be respected so long as they take place in accordance with the rules.

During the action, the crowd carried posters and delivered speeches highlighting the commitment of law enforcement officials to eradicating corruption.

The protesters also staged a symbolic action by throwing eggs as a form of disappointment over the handling of cases deemed to be progressing slowly.

In addition to demanding the detention of Febrie Adriansyah, AMI asked the East Java High Prosecutor’s Office to continue overseeing the handling of a number of suspected corruption cases that have yet to show significant progress.

According to Baihaki, the crowd also highlighted several reports of alleged corruption previously submitted to both the District Prosecutor’s Office and the East Java High Prosecutor’s Office.
