East Java High Prosecutor's Office Receives AMI Demands for Ex-Jampidsus Detention

Surabaya (ANTARA) - The East Java High Prosecutor’s Office received representatives from the Madura Indonesia Alliance (AMI) who were demanding the detention of former Junior Attorney General for Special Crimes, Febrie Adriansyah, during a protest in Surabaya on Thursday. “The demands conveyed by the demonstrators will be forwarded to superiors. We urge that they be delivered in an orderly and peaceful manner,” said the Head of the Legal Information Section at the East Java High Prosecutor’s Office, Adnan Sulistiyono, when confirmed in Surabaya on Thursday. He stated that the protest is part of the public’s right to express opinions, which must be respected as long as it is conducted in accordance with regulations. During the action, the crowd carried posters and delivered speeches highlighting the commitment of law enforcement officials to eradicating corruption. The demonstrators also staged a symbolic act by throwing eggs as a form of disappointment over the handling of cases they perceived as slow. In addition to demanding the detention of Febrie Adriansyah, AMI requested that the East Java High Prosecutor’s Office continue to oversee the handling of several suspected corruption cases that they believe have not shown significant progress. According to a representative, Baihaki, the crowd also highlighted several reports of alleged corruption that had previously been submitted to the District Prosecutor’s Office and the East Java High Prosecutor’s Office.
