East Java Governor: Social Assistance Strengthens Protection for Vulnerable Communities
Kediri (ANTARA) – East Java Governor Khofifah Indar Parawansa stated that social assistance demonstrates the government’s commitment to supporting economically vulnerable communities, fostering empowerment and economic independence.
“The distribution of social assistance worth Rp1.819 billion is part of the East Java Provincial Government’s commitment to strengthen social protection and promote economic independence among the population, particularly vulnerable groups,” Governor Khofifah stated in Kediri on Sunday.
The government continues to strive for improved community welfare. Therefore, social assistance and relief aid totalling Rp1.819 billion was distributed to Kediri City residents.
This social assistance programme is an implementation of Nawa Bhakti Satya, specifically Jatim Sejahtera, which serves as a foundation to realise East Java as the Gateway to the New Nusantara towards Golden Indonesia 2045.
Khofifah also stressed that the assistance provided is not merely consumptive but is expected to have a multiplier effect on community economic resilience.
“I always tell everyone to use this assistance properly, not only to meet basic needs but also to enhance self-reliance and foster an entrepreneurial spirit,” she said.
“Behind every delivered assistance is the hard work of social companions, TKSK (Community Social Welfare Officers), Tagana, and all social pillars. The dedication of all is a crucial part of our efforts to improve community welfare,” she added.
Khofifah also hopes for strengthened synergy among social pillars, accompanied by increased integrity and sensitivity to community dynamics on the ground.
“With a spirit of mutual cooperation, I am optimistic that social protection in East Java will become more responsive, targeted, and deliver tangible impacts for those in need,” she said.
