East Java Governor Khofifah Ensures Smooth High School Admissions Process
Madiun - The Governor of East Java, Khofifah Indar Parawansa, has ensured that the implementation of the Student Admission System (SPMB) for the 2026/2027 academic year for senior high school levels and equivalent is running smoothly.
During a visit to SMKN 1 Madiun and SMAN 4 Madiun on Friday, Khofifer stated that all stages of the SPMB have been designed in a measurable manner to avoid congestion of prospective students and parents at target schools. “I can ensure that the SPMB process is running smoothly. The entire process is measured with specific daily limits. The hope is that there will be no accumulation of students and no long waiting times, because fundamentally, they have already been confirmed online,” Khofifah said.
According to the Governor, the implemented measured registration system allows prospective students to confirm their verification schedules in advance. They can identify the specific dates and service hours to follow, ensuring a more orderly and comfortable process. “Thus, prospective students can follow the verification process at specific times and dates. When we monitor the SPMB, we can see that, God willing, everything is comfortable,” she added.
Khofifah also expressed appreciation for the readiness of the facilities and infrastructure provided by the respective schools. She noted that most SPMB service rooms have been equipped with air conditioning to provide comfort for prospective students and parents. To accelerate the verification process, every state SMA and SMK in East Java has prepared 10 operators tasked with serving prospective students throughout the SPMB stages.
She explained that the verification conducted by schools aims solely to match the grade data uploaded online with the original documents brought by the students. “They only need to verify the grade data received online from their respective junior high schools with the hard copies to ensure the consistency of report card grades per semester. There are some discrepancies, but the hard copy documents remain the primary reference,” she said.
Data from the East Java Provincial Education Office notes that the number of SMP/MTs/equivalent graduates in 2026 reached 618,479 students. However, the capacity of state SMA and SMK in East Java is only available for 244,621 students. This figure consists of 121,538 seats in state SMA and 123,083 seats in state SMK. Consequently, state schools are only able to accommodate approximately 39.55 per cent of this year’s total graduates.
