Every livestock being transported must be accompanied by an Animal Health Certificate (SKKH) as a form of oversight and safety assurance for the public.

Surabaya (ANTARA) - East Java Governor Khofifah Indar Parawansa has confirmed that sacrificial animals in Bojonegoro Regency are healthy and safe under veterinary supervision, with distribution to various regions proceeding smoothly ahead of Eid al-Adha 1447 Hijriah.

“Alhamdulillah with free vaccinations, FMD in sacrificial animals has significantly decreased, demand for sacrificial animals even reaching Jabodetabek and Kalimantan, so veterinary oversight must continue,” Khofifah said while inspecting H. Wariyanto’s cattle centre in Semutan Pomahan Village, Baureno District, Bojonegoro Regency, according to a written statement on Tuesday.

Khofifah inspected around 90 heads of Simental, Limousin, and Peranakan Ongole (PO) cattle prepared for sacrificial needs.

The former Social Affairs Minister stated that the East Java Provincial Government continues to strengthen animal health oversight and livestock distribution management ahead of Eid al-Adha due to a significant increase in livestock movement.

“We ensure that transported livestock are healthy. This is a peak period for livestock movement two days before Eid al-Adha, so we monitor the movement of livestock between regencies and districts,” she said.

She added that every livestock being transported must be accompanied by an Animal Health Certificate (SKKH) as a form of oversight and public safety assurance.

“We control and monitor through the Animal Health Certificate issued by authorised veterinarians for livestock being transported. Distribution to mosques will happen tomorrow, Insha’Allah smoothly,” she said.

Khofifah also urged farmers to improve production quality to enhance competitiveness and add greater value in the livestock sector.

Meanwhile, East Java Provincial Livestock Agency Head Indyah Ariani said high public enthusiasm for sacrificial rituals has positively impacted prices and market absorption of livestock.

“The day before delivery to mosques, public enthusiasm for performing the sacrifice is remarkable. Farmers are happy as prices are better than last year. Demand is good, supply is sufficient, so East Java is safe. Stock is in surplus,” said Indyah.

She hopes East Java can maintain its position as the national livestock hub due to having the highest livestock population in Indonesia.

Livestock trader H. Wariyanto said most of his cattle have been sold to various regions in East Java, including Jombang, Kediri, and Surabaya.

“Thank you very much. The Governor’s presence has boosted the morale of the community and farmers. Mrs Khofifah is very attentive to farmers and traders, providing free vaccines and vitamins for cattle, ensuring all the animals are healthy,” Wariyanto said.
