East Java Governor Khofifah Indar Parawansa stated that archives form the foundation for digital transformation towards Golden Indonesia 2045 after the provincial government secured four national archiving awards at the National Archives of the Republic of Indonesia (ANRI) office in Jakarta.

“These awards were not achieved alone but through synergy and collaboration with many parties, including local government agencies, archivists, and strategic partners who have consistently strengthened archiving governance in East Java,” Khofifah said in a statement received in Surabaya on Friday.

Specifically, this year’s National Best Network Node award marks East Java’s fifth win, having previously received it in 2021, 2022, 2024, and 2025.

According to Khofifah, these achievements demonstrate that East Java’s archiving governance continues to develop and keep pace with digital transformation.

“In the digital era, archives are no longer just piles of documents. They must serve as data and reference sources to support public services, information transparency, and the formulation of accurate policies,” she added.

To strengthen archiving governance, the East Java Provincial Government continues to digitise archives through the Integrated Dynamic Archiving Information System (Srikandi) and Electronic Official Document Management (TNDE) applications, alongside enhancing archiving personnel’s competencies.

These efforts have also enabled the provincial government to retain an ‘AA’ rating in the national archiving oversight conducted by ANRI.

Additionally, the MKB award was granted for the successful nomination and preservation of the GKJW archives from 1931 to 1995, a collaboration between the East Java Provincial Government and GKJW.

“The GKJW archives form a vital part of the trail of tolerance, cultural acculturation, and community contributions in education, healthcare, and social movements,” she added.
