Jombang – East Java Governor Khofifah Indar Parawansa commended the edOTEL facility at SMKN 1 Jombang, viewing it as one of the finest hotel training facilities in East Java.

During her visit to Jombang, Governor Khofifah urged SMKN 1 Jombang to progress towards obtaining status as a Regional Public Service Agency (BLUD).

“SMKN 1 Jombang is ready to become a BLUD. Since the process requires preparation and budgeting, I have asked Pak Yasin (Head of the East Java Regional Financial Management Agency) and Pak Aries (Head of the East Java Education Office) to identify schools demonstrating such extraordinary commitment,” Khofifah said in Jombang on Thursday.

The Governor stressed the need for strengthening to ensure the school’s commitment reaches the anticipated strategic level.

According to Khofifah, the existence of the edOTEL demonstrates the school’s seriousness in enhancing student competency, particularly in hotel management and tourism based on practical, hands-on experience.

The edOTEL at SMKN 1 Jombang features various facilities supporting practical hotel training, including a restaurant, 17 guest rooms, meeting rooms with capacities of 20 and 200 people, a prayer room, a gallery, toilets, and a lobby area.

Khofifah also commended the naming of several meeting rooms at the edOTEL using the names of prominent national figures such as Gus Dur, K.H. Wahab Chasbullah, and K.H. Wahid Hasyim.

“The meeting rooms are named after Gus Dur, Wahab Chasbullah, and Wahid Hasyim – these meeting rooms carry the names of great national heroes, and hopefully will serve as inspiration and foster the spirit of heroism from SMKN 1 Jombang,” she said.

On this occasion, Governor Khofifah also distributed educational assistance to 30 high-achieving students from disadvantaged families from Jombang, Nganjuk and Blitar districts. Each student received assistance valued at Rp 1 million.
