East Java Governor and Minister of Women Empowerment Pay Last Respects to Head of Surabaya Hajj Dormitory

Surabaya (ANTARA) - The Governor of East Java, Khofifah Indar Parawansa, alongside the Minister of Women Empowerment and Child Protection (PPPA), Arifatul Choiri Fauzi, accompanied the funeral procession of the Head of the Surabaya Embarkation Hajj Dormitory Technical Implementation Unit (UPT), Fentin Istifa’iyah, to her burial in Surabaya on Sunday.

“Innalillahi wa inna ilaihi raji’un. We express our deepest condolences on the passing of Mrs Hj. Fentin Istifa’iyah. May all her good deeds be accepted by Allah SWT and her shortcomings be forgiven,” she said.

On behalf of herself, the East Java Provincial Government, and the people of East Java, Khoflyfah expressed condolences and respect for the passing of Fentin, who had been entrusted with providing services to the public, particularly to Hajj pilgrims.

Khofifah also invited the people of East Java to join in praying for the deceased by reciting Surah Al-Fatihah. According to her, prayer is a form of respect and an expression of affection for those who have passed away.

To the bereaved family, Khofifah offered prayers for strength, patience, and fortitude in facing the loss of their loved one.

Fentin Istifa’iyah was entrusted with the role of Head of the Surabaya Embarkation Hajj Dormitory UPT, serving pilgrims from East Java and other regions at the dormitory.

For Khofifah, the role was not merely an administrative job, but a vital part of serving the community during a significant stage of the Islamic pilgrimage journey.

In addition to her role as Head of the Class I Embarkation UPT of the Sukolilo Surabaya Hajj Dormitory, Fentin was also a board member of the Muslimat Nahdlatul Ulama (NU) East Java Hajj Foundation.

The deceased was also a direct niece of Governor Khofifah Indar Parawansa.

“May all her dedication and service become a continuous charity (amal jariyah) and receive the best reward from Allah SWT. May she attain a good end (husnul khatimah) and be placed in a noble position by the side of Allah SWT. Al-Fatihah,” said Khofifah.
