East Java Education Office: SPMB 2026 to Use TKA Score Weighting
Surabaya (ANTARA) - The Head of the East Java Education Office, Aries Agung Paewai, stated that the 2026 New Student Admission System (SPMB) will use the weighting of Academic Ability Test (TKA) scores as an assessment component in all selection pathways. “There are several changes in SPMB 2026 that the public needs to note, including the elimination of school index weighting in all selection pathways, both domicile and academic achievement,” Aries said in Surabaya on Thursday. As a replacement, the East Java Education Office will use SMP/MTs TKA scores as an additional assessment component with a 40 percent weighting in all SPMB 2026 pathways, namely domicile, affirmative action, and academic achievement for SMA and SMK. Other changes include opening the domicile pathway earlier in the first stage, from 11-15 June 2026, with a total quota of 45 percent, consisting of 35 percent for SMA and 10 percent for SMK. “Academic ability scores consist of a combination of 60 percent average report card grades and 40 percent average TKA scores from the Collective TKA Results List,” he explained. Aries added that the use of TKA scores also applies to the SMA domicile pathway, affirmative action academic achievement pathway for economically disadvantaged families in SMA/SMK, and academic achievement pathway. Prospective students are required to attach the TKA Results Certificate (SHTKA) when obtaining the PIN. For quotas, the academic achievement pathway in SMA is set at 25 percent of capacity, while in SMK it reaches 65 percent. “SMK prospective students are also allowed to choose a maximum of three skill concentrations, either in one school or different schools, within or outside the rayon,” he said. The subjects forming the basis of assessment include Religious Education and Moral Character, Pancasila Education, Indonesian Language, Mathematics, Natural Sciences (IPA), Social Sciences (IPS), and English. Previously, the Minister of Basic and Secondary Education (Mendikdasmen) Abdul Mu’ti emphasised that the SPMB 2026 system remains focused on inclusive and fair principles with the addition of TKA scores as a component in the academic achievement pathway. “SPMB is a new student admission system, not a selection. With this system, all students have the opportunity to access educational services, not only in public schools but also private ones,” he said.
