PT Jasamarga Probolinggo Banyuwangi (JPB) has officially commenced operations of the Probolinggo-Situbondo-Banyuwangi (Prosiwangi) Toll Road, specifically the Gending-Paiton segment, spanning 23.515 km. Starting from Wednesday (30/09/2026) at 10:00 WIB, the segment is being offered free of charge, in accordance with the Ministry of Public Works’ decision regarding the operation and tariff determination for the Prosiwangi segment. This free access period will last for 14 days as part of a socialisation phase before regular tolls are implemented.

The operation of the Gending-Paiton segment is a key part of developing connectivity in the eastern region of East Java, providing easier access to various tourist destinations and strategic areas, extending to Banyuwangi and Ketapang Port.

The President Director of PT JPB, Adi Prasetyanto, stated that the 14-day free period serves to introduce this new access route to the public and provide an alternative route to various tourist spots in the Probolinggo and Situbondo areas. He encouraged motorists to familiarise themselves with the new route and available facilities while adhering to traffic signs and ensuring their electronic money cards are ready for travel.

In terms of operational readiness, the Gending-Paiton segment passed the Function and Operation Feasibility Test (ULFO) between 22-24 October 2025, meeting all technical and administrative requirements. The segment subsequently received a 4-star Certificate of Function and Operation (SLFO) on 12 February 20romb 2026 from the Ministry of Public Works.

Although the toll is currently free, motorists are still required to tap their electronic money cards at the toll booths. For trips from the Kraksaan Toll Gate to the Paiton Toll Gate or vice versa, no tariff will be charged. However, motorists travelling continuously from Surabaya or Malang towards the Gending-Paiton segment will still be charged the Trans-Java Toll Road tariff up to the Gending Toll Gate on the Pasuruan-Probolinggo Toll Road.

The Gending-Paiton segment features two Toll Gates (GT): GT Kraksaan and GT Paiton. Each gate consists of six lanes, including three entry lanes, three exit lanes, and one reversible lane. To support operations, Jasa Marga has prepared infrastructure, personnel, operational vehicles, and transaction services, including ambulances, tow trucks, patrols, rescue units, shuttles, and mobile readers at every gate. Motorists are advised to ensure sufficient fuel and card balances, drive safely, and obey all traffic signs, markings, and speed limits.

The presence of the Gending-Paiton segment provides closer access to several nearby tourist destinations. From the Paiton Service Area (SS), users can proceed to Pantai Duta, Pantai Bohay, Utama Raya Resort, and Pantai Tampora. From the Kraksaan Service Area, users can access Probolinggo destinations such as Ranu Agung, Ranu Segaran, Songa Rafting, and Bremi Eco Park.

Adi added that the Prosiwangi Toll Road will gradually strengthen connectivity in eastern East Java, including routes to Banyuwangi and Ketapang Port. He noted that the development is expected to provide more efficient travel alternatives and wider access to strategic areas, including Ketapang Port as a vital connectivity hub to Bali Island.

Regarding travel time, the journey from Probolinggo to Besuki, which previously took approximately 2 hours, is projected to take around 1 hour 15 minutes with the new toll road. Once the entire Prosiwangi Toll Road is fully operational, the journey from Probolinggo to Banyuwangi, which previously could take up to 5 hours, is projected to be reduced to approximately 3 hours.
