East Java DPW Backs Slamet Ariyadi for BM-PAN Chairmanship, Citing Youth Appeal
The East Java Regional Leadership Council (DPW) of Barisan Muda Penegak Amanat Nasional (BM-PAN) has declared its full support for Slamet Ariyadi to become the next General Chairman of BM-PAN. The endorsement was made following an assessment that Ariyadi is the figure needed by today’s youth to lead the organisation. ‘BM-PAN needs new energy, a leader who is down-to-earth, close to the people, and understands the challenges of young people. We, the DPW BM-PAN of East Java, agree to support H. Slamet Ariyadi as General Chairman of BM-PAN,’ said Roki Wardoyo, Chairman of DPW BM-PAN East Java, in an official statement on Tuesday. Wardoyo noted that Ariyadi, who currently serves as Head of the PAN Faction Working Committee in the Indonesian House of Representatives for the East Java XI Madura electoral district, has a proven track record of being close to the people. His simple leadership style, such as arriving at a BM-PAN debate arena by motorcycle taxi, is cited as evidence that he maintains no distance from his constituents. ‘Young people today need figures who deliver real work, not just image-building. Mr Slamet Ariyadi has proven that. He understands millennial issues: employment, education, MSMEs, and digitalisation. That is what we need to lead BM-PAN now,’ he continued. Wardoyo also emphasised that the support for Ariyadi is a form of strengthening unity of command under the leadership of PAN General Chairman Zulkifli Hasan. The aim is for BM-PAN to become the driving force for PAN’s victory, targeting a top-three finish in the 2029 General Election. ‘With the spirit of the Barisan Muda Penegak Amanat Nasional, we are confident that under the command of Mr Slamet Ariyadi, BM-PAN will become more solid, progressive, and a big home for young PAN cadres throughout Indonesia,’ he asserted. This support from the East Java DPW BM-PAN adds to a growing list of endorsements from PAN cadres and sympathisers in the regions who desire a more dynamic and youth-oriented leadership regeneration for BM-PAN.
