East Java DPRD Deputy Speaker Highlights MBG and Kopdes Merah Putih Programmes

Following President Prabowo Subianto’s state address, East Java DPRD Deputy Speaker Deni Wicaksono acknowledged the government’s reported achievements but cautioned against viewing them solely through numerical data. He emphasised the need to assess the real-world impact on the community. “Statistically, the figures are indeed extraordinary, but we must also observe the actual conditions on the ground,” Deni stated on Friday.

Deni highlighted the Free Nutritious Meals (MBG) programme, noting that its substantial budget demands paramount attention to implementation quality and food safety. He pointed to incidents of MBG recipients suffering food poisoning, including cases in East Java, as serious matters requiring firm action. He urged that MBG kitchens (SPPG) found responsible for such errors be temporarily closed, and if no improvement is shown, their operational permits should be permanently revoked. “If they cannot improve, they should be closed permanently and their licences withdrawn,” he asserted, warning that failure to maximise the large budget would result in state losses and directly harm the students receiving the meals.

Regarding the Kopdes Merah Putih (KDMP) village cooperative programme, Deni acknowledged the large-scale targets presented by the President but demanded comprehensive data transparency. He questioned not just how many cooperatives have been established, but how many are genuinely operational and generating profit. He reminded the government that the programme involves village funds that must be repaid over six years, making transparency crucial for villagers to understand the economic benefits. Deni concluded that the DPRD would continue to monitor the implementation of priority programmes to ensure they deliver real benefits, rather than merely appearing impressive on paper.
