East Java Directorate General of Corrections confirms Bechi’s parole has been revoked
Malang, East Java (ANTARA) — The East Java Regional Office of the Directorate General of Corrections has confirmed that the parole of convicted sex offender Moch Subchi Azal Tsani, alias Bechi, has been revoked, sending him back to Malang Class I Prison in East Java.
East Java Directorate General of Corrections regional head Kusnali said at a press conference at the prison on Thursday that the revocation followed Decree No. PAS-1797.PK.07.04 of 2026, dated 30 September 2026 and received by his office on 6 October 2026.
“The revocation of parole follows the decree concerning inmate MSA (Bechi). Malang Class I Probation and Parole Office has carried out the decision and brought him back from outside the prison,” Kusnali said.
He said the decree revoking Bechi’s parole was delivered to him in person that day, while he was at the Malang Class I Probation and Parole Office for a compulsory reporting appointment.
Bechi was co-operative and accepted the decision to revoke his parole. He arrived at Malang Class I Prison at 11.25am Western Indonesian Time.
“We will review the details to calculate how much of his sentence remains, and will provide an update later,” Kusnali said.
Bechi was sentenced to seven years in prison by the Surabaya District Court on 17 November 2022 over the sexual abuse of a female student at an Islamic boarding school. The sentence was shorter than the 16 years sought by prosecutors.
He was granted parole from Malang Class I Prison in August 2025 after receiving a sentence remission under Immigration and Corrections Ministerial Decree No. PAS-1429.PK.05.03 of 2025.
Kusnali also explained that the decision to revoke Bechi’s parole followed a review prompted by news reports concerning the victim. His office then re-examined the stages and procedures involved in granting Bechi parole.
He said the review had identified stages and procedures that appeared to involve maladministration, which ultimately formed the basis for revoking the parole.
However, to establish whether maladministration had occurred, the office is awaiting the findings of an investigation into six staff members: five from Malang Class I Prison and one from the Malang Class I Probation and Parole Office.
“We are still waiting for the findings,” he said.
