East Java Confirms 1,097 Cooperatives Active with Members and Regular Transactions
The East Java Cooperatives and SMEs Office has confirmed that 1,097 cooperatives are currently running business activities, have members, and are conducting transactions. “The 1,097 have been recorded in the system called Simkopdes at the Ministry of Cooperatives. So, transactions are already taking place and members are already registered,” said Head of the East Java Cooperatives and SMEs Office, Endy Alim Abdi Nusa, in Surabaya on Saturday (4/6). Data from the East Java Cooperatives Office, integrated with the Ministry of Cooperatives’ Simkopdes system, shows these 1,097 cooperatives are actively operating. Endy explained that the overall programme has seen the construction of 5,000 physical buildings. Of that number, approximately 2,500 to 3,000 buildings are 100 per cent complete, while the remainder are still under construction. According to Endy, the provincial government, together with district and city governments, is responsible for supervising the construction before coordinating with PT Agrinas for the operational phase. Most recently, 530 cooperative buildings spread across eight districts and cities, including Nganjuk, Kediri, Mojokerto, and Lamongan, have been inaugurated and are now the focus of government evaluation. “For now, we are optimising our supervision to see whether these 530 are already running or not,” he said. The cooperatives’ operations have been supported by supplies of various basic necessities from Bulog, Food ID, and Pertamina LPG, enabling business activities to commence in several areas. Meanwhile, the construction of cooperative buildings will continue. Endy mentioned that the central government is targeting the inauguration of around 30,000 Red and White Cooperative buildings across Indonesia by next August. East Java is still awaiting confirmation from PT Agrinas on the number of buildings ready for operation. “If all of them are completed, then the 5,000-plus buildings mean East Java will have 5,000. But the principle conveyed by the Minister of Cooperatives yesterday was that, God willing, the target of 30,000 will be inaugurated by Mr Prabowo in August,” Endy said.
