East Java Confirms 1,097 Cooperatives Active with Members and Regular Transactions
The East Java Provincial Cooperative Office has ensured that 1,097 cooperatives are actively conducting business activities, possessing members, and performing transactions.
“The 1,097 figure represents those we have recorded in the Simkopdes system under the Ministry of Cooperatives. They have transactions and established memberships,” stated the Head of the East Java Cooperative and SME Office, Endy Alim Abdi Nusa, in Surabaya on Saturday (4/6).
According to data from the East Java Cooperative Office integrated into the Ministry of Cooperatives’ Simkopdes system, these 1,097 cooperatives are fully operational with active members and ongoing transactions.
Endy explained that, regarding the overall programme realisation, 5,000 physical buildings have been established. Of that number, approximately 2,500 to 3,000 buildings have been 100% completed, while the remainder are still under construction.
According to Endy, the provincial government, alongside district and city governments, plays a role in supervising construction before coordinating with PT Agrinas for the operational phase.
Most recently, 530 cooperative buildings spread across eight regencies and cities—including Nganjuk, Kediment, Mojokerto, and Lamongan—have been inaugurated and are now the focus of government evaluation. “For now, we are optimising our supervision to see whether these 530 units are already operational,” he said.
The existence of these cooperatives is supported by the supply of various basic necessities from Bulog, Food ID, and LPG from Pertamina, allowing business activities to commence in several regions.
Meanwhile, the construction of cooperative buildings will continue. Endy noted that the central government aims to have approximately 30,000 ‘Koperasi Merah Putih’ buildings inaugurated across Indonesia by next August.
As for East Java, the province is still awaiting confirmation regarding the number of buildings ready for operation from PT Agrinas. “If everything proceeds, then all 5,000-plus buildings would be in East Java. However, the principle from the Minister of Cooperatives recently stated that, God willing, the target is 30,000, which will be inaugurated by Mr Prabowo in August,” Endy added.
