The case has been reported to the police, with the couple suffering losses of up to Rp85.5 million.

According to Antara, the bride, Feny, initially discovered the wedding organiser via Instagram, which offered various wedding packages.

Feny and Aldi selected the organiser, paid a deposit, and attended a food tasting session where they observed staff from decoration vendors, makeup artists, MCs, and displayed examples of the altar and buffet.

They later tried on wedding attire at the organiser’s office in Jakarta Garden City (JGC), Cakung, with payments made in installments until fully settled by early April 2026, even increasing the guest count on 11 May.

Suspicious signs emerged during an online technical meeting that was unprofessional and extremely brief. Feny stated: “The technical meeting lasted only 10 minutes and was very vague. When I asked about the schedule, venue entry flow, guest seating arrangements, they said everything would be confirmed one day before the event.” She noted this differed from standard wedding preparations, which typically involve on-site coordination. Her suspicions grew after hearing of other victims complaining about catering delays and incorrect food quantities.

The situation escalated on 13 May 2026, approximately 10 days before the wedding. Bekasi Islamic Centre management contacted the couple, stating the venue payment was unsettled by the organiser. “The Islamic Centre said we still owed around Rp17.5 million, but the organiser had only paid a Rp6 million deposit,” Feny explained.

The couple repeatedly tried contacting the organiser without clear responses. On the wedding eve, they visited the JGC office only to find it empty. “When we arrived, the gallery was empty. Locals said they had moved to Rorotan,” Aldi said.

They then searched for the organiser’s warehouse in Rorotan, where staff gave vague excuses about venue payment. “We demanded payment confirmation as it was the day before the event. They said the deposit hadn’t cleared and promised to pay by 4pm,” Aldi added.

The organiser even signed a notarised statement regarding their responsibility for the event, but left the location citing other matters. Decorators and caterers reported receiving no instructions, with some leaving due to uncertainty. “We were certain the reception wouldn’t happen,” Aldi said.
