East Jakarta Vocational Training Centre Equips Jatinegara Residents with Automotive and Garment Training

Jakarta (ANTARA) - The East Jakarta Regional Job Training Centre (PPKD Jaktim) is equipping residents of Jatinegara sub-district, Cakung district, with vocational training in light motorcycle automotive skills and basic sewing or garment making. “Twenty residents of Jatinegara sub-district, Cakung district, East Jakarta, are participating in the mobile training unit (MTU) job training organised by PPKD Jakarta Timur,” said the Head of the Economy and Development Section of Jatinegara Sub-district, Triwulan Woro Astuti, in Jakarta on Monday. The training lasts for 20 working days, from 13 April to 11 May 2026, with 10 participants in each vocational field. Astuti stated that the trainees are local residents from various backgrounds, such as Family Empowerment and Welfare Cadres (PKK), youth organisations, and the general public. “I hope this training can help reduce unemployment by providing participants with skills that can be used for employment or starting a business,” Astuti said. According to her, upon completing the training, all participants will receive certificates from PPKD Jakarta Timur as proof of competency. “I hope the participants can make optimal use of this training so that the knowledge provided by the instructors is well absorbed and provides long-term benefits,” Astuti added. Meanwhile, one resident of Rusun Pulo Jahe, RT 06/05, Jatinegara sub-district, Sri Wahyuni (51), expressed delight at the training opportunity to gain skills as a business foundation. “I want to have sewing expertise, so I’m joining this training instead of just staying at home,” Sri said. Sri plans to open a clothing alteration business in the housing complex where she has lived for the past three years. This business opportunity remains open as there are not many such services in her area yet. “Initially, it was a bit difficult because I had to understand the theory before practice. Now, I’m starting to master basic sewing skills and can even make simple garments,” Sri stated.
