Jakarta (ANTARA) - The East Jakarta Transport Sub-Department (Sudinhub Jaktim) has deployed personnel along Jalan Damai, Kalisari Ward, Pasar Rebo Sub-District, to prevent the resurgence of illegal parking that had previously gone viral and been complained about by residents.

“We are monitoring Jalan Damai regarding the viral illegal parking issue. We are conducting surveillance to ward off vehicles that park there. This has happened repeatedly,” said Yogi, an officer from the Pasar Rebo Sub-District Transport Implementation Unit (Satpel), in Jakarta on Tuesday.

Yogi stated that his team is currently focusing on direct field supervision by placing personnel to guard and deter vehicles attempting to park on the roadside.

The surveillance is being carried out intensively as a precautionary measure against repeated violations at the location.

According to him, personnel are deployed at vulnerable points because the area has quite dense resident traffic activity.

Additionally, the presence of workshops in the vicinity contributes to vehicles parking on the roadside, thereby disrupting residents’ access in and out.

Furthermore, this surveillance is a follow-up to directives from superiors to tighten oversight, especially after increasing public complaints.

Going forward, personnel will be deployed daily to ensure the situation remains orderly. “We will conduct daily monitoring with personnel guarding the location,” he said.

In addition to surveillance, Sudinhub is preparing enforcement measures such as towing vehicles that violate parking rules. However, implementation will still follow the latest regulations requiring approval from the local RT and RW.

On the other hand, residents have welcomed the guarding measures taken by the officers. They hope the presence of personnel in the field will serve as a deterrent to violators and restore environmental comfort.

One resident, Renol (38), expressed that illegal parking has long disrupted access to residents’ homes. Often, vehicles park without permission in private areas.

“We in the three RTs have been restless. My garage is often used for parking, making it difficult to enter. Sometimes they enter without permission,” said Renol.

With the deployment of personnel at the location, residents hope that illegal parking violations on Jalan Damai can be minimised, providing a sense of safety and comfort for activities in the area.
