East Jakarta Transport Agency Seizes Motorcycles Parked on Jatinegara Pavement

The East Jakarta Transport Agency (Sudinhub) impounded five motorcycles on Friday as part of a crackdown on illegal parking on Jalan Jatinegara Timur, in front of J-Town. One of the vehicles belonged to an online motorcycle taxi driver who arrived after his motorcycle had already been loaded onto the transport truck. Agency head Harlem Simanjuntak stated that the owners were directed to retrieve their vehicles at the Sudinhub East Jakarta office, a measure taken to ensure safety during the removal process and to avoid risks to officers and other road users. Upon arrival at the office, owners will be processed according to procedure, including signing a statement pledging not to repeat the violation, after which they can resume their activities. Simanjuntak emphasised that officers prioritise a humanist approach and provide clear explanations, understanding that the vehicles are essential for their livelihoods. The enforcement applies to all illegally parked vehicles, both two-wheeled and four-wheeled, regardless of the owner’s profession. The operation aims to preserve the function of pavements for pedestrians and to create order and traffic safety, with the agency urging the public to comply with parking regulations for the common good. The action was carried out in accordance with Regional Regulation No. 5 of 2014 on Transportation, employing measures such as towing, net-lifting for motorcycles, and valve-core removal operations for vehicles proven to have committed parking violations. The enforcement was conducted by joint personnel from the East Jakarta Transport Agency, the Civil Service Police Unit (Satpol PP), the Social Agency, and the Police.
