The East Jakarta Social Services (Sudinsos) and the Indonesian Red Cross (PMI) of East Jakarta have provided various forms of assistance to the victims of an LPG explosion on Jalan Puskesmas, Kalisari, Pasar Rebo. “Social assistance was sent yesterday; we hope this can help alleviate the burden on residents affected by this disaster,” said the Head of East Jakarta Social Services, Agata Bayu Putra, in Jakarta on Tuesday.

The aid provided included four 5kg bags of rice, four boxes of instant noodles, four 2-litre bottles of cooking oil, four bottles of sweet soy sauce, eight packs of biscuits, eight cans of sardines, and four goodie bags. Meanwhile, the Chairman of the East Jakarta PMI, Bambang Pangestu, stated that his organisation provided four packages of basic food supplies, four emergency family kits, four folding mats, four PMI tarpaulins, and four boxes of mineral water. “Assistance for the Kalisari explosion victims was distributed yesterday. There are 15 beneficiaries in total,” said Bambang.

The explosion occurred on Sunday (31/5) at approximately 08:30 WIB. The blast caused five people to suffer severe injuries, all of whom were rushed to the Pasar Rebo Regional Hospital, while other family members were forced to evacuate to the homes of nearby relatives. The Head of Kalisari Village, Siti Nurhasanah, confirmed that the explosion destroyed four houses. Currently, the affected properties remain cordoned off with police lines as the case is under investigation by the police. The five residents who suffered burns include Wawan Tisnawati (37), Evi Septiani (33), Mohammad Beban Alzeina (13), Asyilah Izdihar Setiawan (10), and Muhammad Althar Malik (1). The four houses sustained heavy damage, including collapsed roofs, destroyed canopies, broken windows, and shattered plywood walls.
